District Coordination meeting with the Department of Education

The STEM Poiner project Kalat was launched properly from the District Coordination meeting with the Department of Education. The purpose of the visit was to introduce the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) small grant STEM Ponier project and obtain permission to work in the government school.  Under the chairmanship of the district education officer, all education Officers of the district participated in the meeting including DOE (male, female), DDEO (Male, Female Kalat, and Mangochar) and ADEO ( Male, Female). All information about the PUAN and STEM project was presented to the participants by Miss Sumera Mehboob, the PUAN Almuni. The concept of STEM education was new to the participants, and they asked many questions about it. Four Government Girls’ Schools were selected for the PUAN STEM Poiner project and a formal letter of cooperation was sent to the heads of schools. The interesting part of this meeting was that 2 Education officers are PUAN Alumni, so they were able to connect and provide their special services to make the project a success.

Our challenges can be transformed into solutions

Our challenges can be transformed into solutions if we create spaces for learning, sharing, and understanding. The MRC decided to collaborate with the Department of Education to connect with other institutions, such as BUET Khuzdar, after working closely with them for two years. MRC also discussed academic challenges in schools and came up with low-cost, no-cost solutions to improve education.
The learning and fruitful training would not have been possible without Mr. Niaz Ullah, D EO Khuzdar, and D OE ( Male ) Mr. Zahir Kareem, who made sure all district education heads participated. As a result, DEO Khuzdar and other Education Officers developed an action plan to work on the ground.
We would like to thank Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology Khuzdar for providing us with master trainer Dawood Dean of the IT department, whose expertise and knowledge infused the participants’ energy with enthusiasm. BUET also provided Venue for the Workshop.
The MRC looks forward to acting as a bridge between all stakeholders in education to achieve greater engagement and progress.

MRC fellows have begun to develop their project ideas

The MRC fellows have begun to develop their project ideas. The projects are focused on learning and creating change in their environment. It was necessary that leaders or change-makers had a thorough understanding of research, advocacy, and lobbying before making decisions about project ideas. The MRC conducted a three-day training program on research advocacy and lobbying for its fellows. During this training, fellows learned about research types, tools, and steps. In addition, they learned the importance of lobbying and networking for sustainable community development. Through this training, fellows can work with communities on the ground to achieve sustainable development.
